Enroll or Express Interest
We will commence our first year with both 9th and 10th grade. However, those with a classical education background who would prospectively enter 11th or 12 grade are welcome to apply as well. We also encourage those younger students who are interested in learning more about Chesterton or who would be ready to apply in one or two years to send us your information.
We’re so excited to meet our first class of Chesterton students! If you think your child might be one of them, please connect with us.
Knowing that it’s a big decision to send your child to a new school, we will walk closely with you and provide any information you need to make the best decision for your child.
Attend an Info Session
We will have a Fall (2019) and Winter (2020) informational session for parents who are interested in sending their child to Chesterton.
Ask all your questions, meet the leadership team, and connect with other parents.
Apply and Enroll
If you’re convinced Chesterton is the right school for your child, you can enroll beginning in Winter 2020!
Our application process is completed online through TADS.
After the online application is complete, our director will meet one-on-one with you and your student to get to know you and answer any questions that you may have.
An Affordable Education
Tuition & Fees
Chesterton Academy is committed to offering an outstanding high school education at an affordable cost to families. Tuition for the 2020-21 academic year is $6,000 per student with a $450 book and supply fee. Families with siblings at Chesterton Academy receive a tuition discount.
Because tuition does not cover the full cost of an education at Chesterton, families are expected to aid in fundraising efforts throughout the school year.
We are working on providing scholarship and financial aid to those families who apply and qualify. Chesterton Academy utilizes the services of TADS to help us allocate any aid. The student application process must be completed in full before being considered for tuition assistance.
All students are required to take a placement exam as part of the application and enrollment process. The placement exam is used as a diagnostic tool to ensure students are placed in the appropriate section of math or Latin, and to help identify areas of academic strengths and opportunities for growth.
Chesterton Academy administers the Classic Learning Text 8 as its placement exam for incoming freshmen. The placement exam covers:
Verbal reasoning skills
Grammar and writing skills
Quantitive reasoning skills
An optional Latin exam is also offered

+ How will the "houses" in the house system be assigned?
During a special ceremony on a first day of school, new students draw a house name and are welcomed by their new housemates. Siblings are typically assigned to the same house, unless otherwise requested. Once a house has been chosen for a student, they will remain in that house until they graduate.
+ Will Chesterton accept transfer students?
Chesterton Academy welcomes transfer students each year who come from public, private, homeschool, and online high school environments. Our Academic Dean works closely with each transfer student to ensure their success as they transition to Chesterton.
+ What will the homework policy be?
Chesterton Academy works to limit assigned homework to an hour and a half of homework per evening. We seek to be efficient in the learning process such that students have time in the evenings to spend with their family and to commit to extracurricular activities and after-school jobs. We also build the class schedule to include three free periods per week to accommodate our students. They may use this time to study or to take a break as needed.
Preparing for Your First Day
+ What kind of transportation will be available?
The school facilitates carpooling by creating an interactive map which is sent to families prior to the beginning of the new school year. The map helps families easily connect with one another in their geographic area.
+ What will your uniform policy be?
The tradition of school uniforms goes back to Medieval times when caps and gowns were required at universities. Thus, all students regardless of background would dress alike, and all would show an outward sign of their dedication to the task of learning together within the university community. In other words, from the very beginning, uniforms have been in support of three goals: modesty, professionalism, and community, or school spirit. Our uniform policy aims at the same three goals. We will inform all of families prior to the start of school as to where uniforms can be purchased.
+ Will Chesterton require summer reading?
Chesterton students are required to read one classical work over the summer each year. Reading assignments and study guides are available online. All students will have a quiz on their assigned book within the first week of the school year in their literature class.
+ Will a school supply list be given out?
The school supply list is released in July together with details on summer reading assignments.
+ When is student and parent orientation?
We will be having both a student and parent orientation in August before the beginning of school. Check back regularly here to find out exact dates and times.
